A clear approach to privacy

Connectix aims to process personal information lawfully, fairly and transparently, for clear purposes connected to providing and improving our services, operating our network and supporting the people who use Connectix.

01

Scope of this policy

This policy applies to personal information processed through Connectix websites, account services, WiFi access, connectivity services, connection points, customer support and related operational systems.

It applies to people using individual accounts as well as agents, resellers, prospective users, website visitors and people who contact Connectix about connectivity services.

Where another service has a separate privacy notice for a specific activity, that notice should be read together with this policy.

02

03

Information connected to account types

Agent accounts

For homeowners who host a Connectix connection point, Connectix may process location details, connection point information, contact details, service records and token sales information needed to operate the agent relationship.

Reseller accounts

For resellers, Connectix may process contact information, account details, token inventory or sales records and other information needed to support token distribution.

Individual accounts

For individual users, Connectix may process account details, token purchase and redemption records, device or connection information and WiFi usage records so users can access services and view their usage.

04

WiFi and network usage information

Providing WiFi access requires certain technical and service records. Connectix may record information such as connection start and end times, data usage, the connection point used, token status, network identifiers and technical logs required to provide, manage, secure and troubleshoot connectivity.

Usage information may also be displayed within an individual account to help the account holder track their Connectix WiFi usage.

Connectix will limit the collection and use of network information to what is reasonably required for the stated service, operational, security and legal purposes.

05

Connectix will process personal information only where permitted by law and for explicit, specified and legitimate purposes. If information is required for a new purpose that is not compatible with the original purpose, Connectix will take the steps required by applicable law before using it in that way.

06

When information may be shared

Connectix may share personal information only where there is an appropriate reason to do so. This may include service providers that support hosting, communications, network operations, customer support, security, payments or other technical functions required to provide Connectix services.

Information may also be shared with agents or resellers where this is necessary to provide a requested Connectix service, and with regulators, law enforcement authorities, courts or other parties where disclosure is required or permitted by law.

Where another organisation processes information for Connectix, appropriate contractual and security measures should be used to protect the information and limit processing to the agreed purpose.

07

Information transferred outside Zimbabwe

Some technology or service providers may operate infrastructure outside Zimbabwe. If Connectix transfers personal information outside Zimbabwe, it will do so only where the transfer is permitted by applicable law and appropriate protection is in place for the information.

08

Security of personal information

Connectix will use appropriate technical and organisational measures designed to protect personal information against unauthorised access, loss, misuse, alteration or disclosure.

Security measures may include access controls, authentication, logging, system monitoring, data minimisation, secure configuration, restricted staff access and appropriate protections for systems and service providers.

No internet connected system can guarantee absolute security. Connectix will continue to review safeguards as systems, risks and services evolve.

09

How long information is kept

Connectix will keep personal information only for as long as it is reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, to provide or administer services, resolve disputes, maintain legitimate service records, protect the network, or satisfy applicable legal and regulatory requirements. Information that is no longer required should be securely deleted, anonymised or otherwise handled in accordance with applicable law.

10

Your data protection rights

Subject to applicable law and any lawful limitations, you may have the right to:

Be informed about how your personal information will be used.

Access personal information held about you.

Object to all or part of certain processing of your personal information.

Request correction of false or misleading personal information.

Request deletion of false or misleading data where the law provides that right.

Connectix may need to verify your identity before acting on a privacy request. Other rights may apply depending on the circumstances and applicable law.

11

Direct marketing and service messages

Connectix may send operational messages needed to provide or support a service, such as account, token, network or service notices.

Where Connectix uses personal information for direct marketing, users will be given the ability to object or opt out as required by applicable law. Opting out of marketing does not prevent Connectix from sending necessary service communications.

12

Children's information

Connectix does not intend for children to create and manage Connectix accounts independently where parental or guardian involvement is required by law. If Connectix needs to process a child's personal information, appropriate consent from a parent or legal guardian and additional safeguards will be used as required by applicable law.

13

Changes to this policy

Connectix may update this policy when services, systems, operating practices or legal requirements change. The latest version will be published on this page with an updated revision date. Where a change materially affects how personal information is handled, Connectix will take reasonable steps to make the change clear to affected users.
