Acceptable Use Policy

Use the network in a way that keeps it useful for everyone.

This policy explains the standards that apply when you use Connectix WiFi, accounts, tokens, connection points, equipment and related connectivity services.

A shared network works best when everyone uses it responsibly

Connectix is designed to bring internet access closer to communities. Responsible use helps protect users, connection points, devices, accounts and the wider network from activity that can make access unsafe or unreliable.

01

Purpose and scope

This Acceptable Use Policy applies to anyone who accesses or uses Connectix WiFi, networks, accounts, tokens, connection points, equipment, websites or related systems.

It applies to Individual users, Agents, Resellers, organisations, guests and any person using a Connectix service through another authorised account or connection.

This policy should be read together with the Connectix Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy. Where a separate written agreement contains additional network rules, those rules also apply to the relevant service.

02

Responsible use

You should use Connectix services in a way that protects the network and respects other users. This means you should not knowingly use the service in a way that:

Compromises security

Do not weaken, bypass or interfere with security measures protecting Connectix systems, accounts or other users.

Disrupts connectivity

Do not intentionally interfere with network availability, signal access or the ability of other users to connect.

Harms other users

Do not use Connectix services to threaten, defraud, impersonate or unlawfully target another person.

Creates avoidable technical risk

Do not operate software, equipment or processes that knowingly create harmful or destabilising conditions for the network.

03

Lawful use

You may not use Connectix services to carry out, facilitate or knowingly support activity that is unlawful under applicable law.

This includes using the network for fraud, unlawful access to systems or data, unlawful interception, distribution of unlawful material, infringement of intellectual property rights, identity misuse, threats or other prohibited conduct.

If Connectix receives a lawful request from a competent authority relating to activity on the network, Connectix may respond as required or permitted by law.

04

Security and access

You may only access accounts, devices, systems, services and network resources that you are authorised to use.

You must not attempt to discover, obtain, guess, capture or use another person's credentials, tokens, session information or security codes without lawful authority.

You must not probe, scan, test or attempt to bypass security controls protecting Connectix systems or another user's devices unless Connectix has expressly authorised that activity in writing.

If you discover a security weakness affecting Connectix, do not exploit it. Report it through the Contact Us page so that it can be reviewed safely.

05

Network abuse and malicious activity

You must not knowingly use Connectix services to:

Distribute malicious software

Create, upload, transmit or distribute malware, ransomware, spyware or other harmful code through the Connectix network.

Disrupt systems

Launch or participate in activity intended to overload, disable, damage or materially interfere with networks, devices or services.

Gain unauthorised access

Attempt to enter accounts, systems, networks or devices without permission.

Circumvent network controls

Deliberately bypass access controls, token validation, usage controls or technical restrictions applied to a Connectix service.

Send abusive automated traffic

Use the service for bulk unsolicited communications, deceptive messaging or automated traffic that creates security or operational risk.

Conduct hostile scanning

Carry out scanning, enumeration or exploitation attempts against systems without the system owner's permission.

06

Accounts and WiFi tokens

You must not create false or misleading Connectix accounts, impersonate another person, or use an account you are not authorised to use.

You must not generate, alter, duplicate, counterfeit, manipulate or unlawfully obtain Connectix WiFi tokens.

You must not attempt to reuse a token contrary to its conditions, interfere with token validation, modify token records, or use technical methods intended to obtain access without valid authorisation.

Account holders are responsible for taking reasonable steps to protect their login credentials, security codes and devices used to access Connectix services.

07

Shared network use

Connectix connection points may serve multiple users. You should not deliberately use the service in a manner designed to prevent other users from obtaining reasonable access to shared network resources.

Connectix may use reasonable technical network management measures to protect stability, security and service continuity when unusually disruptive or harmful traffic is detected.

Network management is intended to protect the service rather than to restrict ordinary lawful internet use.

08

Content and communications

You are responsible for the content and communications you create, access, upload, transmit or distribute using Connectix services.

You must not knowingly use Connectix services to distribute content or communications that are unlawful, fraudulent, malicious, infringing, deceptive or intended to facilitate unlawful conduct.

Connectix does not become responsible for third party internet content merely because that content is accessed through the Connectix network.

09

Agents and Resellers

Agents

An Agent must not tamper with, move, alter, disable or permit unauthorised access to a Connectix connection point hosted at the Agent's homestead. Agents must follow Connectix operating and security instructions and must not use hosted equipment for unauthorised services.

Resellers

A Reseller must sell only authorised Connectix tokens, must not modify token conditions, and must not misrepresent token validity, coverage, service features or the Reseller's authority to act for Connectix.

Agents and Resellers must protect account, customer and token information and must report suspected fraud, security incidents or misuse affecting Connectix services.

10

Equipment and connection points

Connectix equipment and connection points must be used only for their authorised purpose and in accordance with any instructions provided by Connectix.

You must not open, reconfigure, relocate, resell, damage, interfere with or connect unauthorised equipment to Connectix infrastructure where doing so could affect security, service integrity or another user's access.

Where equipment is installed at an Agent location or another site, access, maintenance, power, placement and equipment responsibilities may also be governed by a separate written agreement.

11

Network protection and technical records

Connectix may use reasonable technical measures and service records to operate the network, detect abuse, investigate faults, protect users, enforce this policy and maintain security.

These measures may include reviewing network events, account activity, token activity, device or connection identifiers, traffic patterns and technical logs where reasonably necessary for those purposes.

Personal information associated with these activities will be handled in accordance with the Connectix Privacy Policy and applicable law.

Read the Privacy Policy

12

Enforcement

If Connectix reasonably believes that a service is being used in breach of this policy, Connectix may take proportionate steps to protect the network, users and affected systems.

Depending on the circumstances, this may include requesting that the activity stop, restricting a feature, invalidating affected access credentials or tokens, temporarily limiting access, suspending an account or service, or terminating access where permitted by the applicable agreement and law.

Connectix may act more quickly where there is an immediate security threat, suspected fraud, unlawful activity, significant network disruption or a risk of harm to users or infrastructure.

Where reasonably appropriate, Connectix may investigate the circumstances and give the affected user an opportunity to explain or correct the issue.

13

Report misuse or a security concern

If you believe a Connectix account, token, connection point or network service is being misused, or you discover a security issue, contact Connectix and provide enough information for the matter to be reviewed.

Changes to this policy

Connectix may update this policy when services, network risks, operating practices or legal requirements change. The latest version will be published on this page with an updated revision date.

If a change materially affects how users may access or use a Connectix service, Connectix will take reasonable steps to make the change clear.
